Our Story
Nestled in the heart of Coggeshall, Essex, The Noble Goose carries forward a remarkable culinary legacy spanning nearly four decades. Our story begins in 1986, when the legendary Peter Langan, the charismatic founder of London’s iconic Langan’s Brasserie established this restaurant as a second location in the village he called home. From the outset, it embodied the spirit, style, and theatrical flair that made Langan’s a cornerstone of British dining culture.
What was once a humble greengrocer’s shop has since evolved into one of Essex’s most celebrated dining destinations. Inspired by the original Langan’s Brasserie in London, co-owned by Peter Langan alongside Michael Caine and Richard Shepherd, The Noble Goose proudly preserves that heritage. From the distinctive artwork adorning our walls to the warm, characterful interiors, echoes of the original London brasserie remain woven into the fabric of the restaurant today.
Now under the management of Blackwells, The Noble Goose continues to evolve while remaining true to its roots. Led by award-winning Head Chef James Self, our kitchen delivers refined British brasserie dining with a sophisticated French twist. We are passionate about championing local producers and seasonal ingredients, allowing quality and provenance to take centre stage on every plate.
